WANE: “Protesters welcome Gov. Pence to Lincoln Dinner”
FORT WAYNE – Yesterday, Third Congressional District Democrats in Fort Wayne stood up to Mike Pence by protesting his visit to the Allen County Republican Party Lincoln Day Dinner – and everyone took notice. The protest followed Mike Pence’s first term, which has been driven by a political agenda that has divided Hoosiers and brought economic damage to the state, including a $250 million economic impact when he signed RFRA into law.
Yesterday’s protest also followed a rather unpleasant reception last Thursday in Indianapolis where the Governor threw out the opening pitch to a baseball game…filled with boos from the stands.
Fort Wayne Journal Gazette: “Pence greeted by protesters at GOP dinner”
WANE: “Some were protesting Pence’s involvement with the Religious Freedom Restoration Act, which reportedly caused the state to lose millions in tourism money after it was signed into law. Others were protesting the latest controversial law.”
21 Alive: “The protestors outside on the corner of Washington Center and Coldwater Roads voiced their opinions, and holding signs that said, ‘Fire Mike Pence,’ ‘You are an embarrassment to Indiana,’ and others referring to women’s rights.”
Fort Wayne Journal Gazette: “Cooley said the online group formed a year ago after the governor signed the Religious Freedom Restoration Act, ‘but it’s not just RFRA.’ RFRA cost the state $250 million in lost business, the group said.”
