INDIANAPOLIS – The Indiana Democratic Party, the organization that advocates for the future of Indiana and its families, today issued the following statement by Chairman Mike Schmuhl in response to the primary election results for Indiana First Congressional District:
“Congressman Frank Mrvan is a committed public servant who has been focused every single day on delivering a brighter future for workers and families in Northwest Indiana. One of only two people who have secured transformative investments for our state, Frank Mrvan is delivering repairs to broken roads and bridges, broadband internet expansion, and the installation of clean and safe water systems. Indiana’s steel industry is also secure for the long-haul with all of these important projects required to use steel that is Made in America.
Moreover, Indiana teachers finally got their pay raise and public schools received funding not seen since the 2000s. Our law enforcement professionals and first responders were also funded for keeping our communities safe. There is still more work to be done, but Frank Mrvan’s strong record has put Northwest Indiana first from the moment he was sworn in – and it’s why he’ll win reelection this November.
No amount of national partisanship or manufactured lies from Jennifer-Ruth Green will change the facts. Democrats are delivering on the kitchen-table issues that matter most with voters in Lake, Porter, and LaPorte counties. As for Green, she has no plan – just extreme partisanship that divides communities and families. Common sense public service and a focus on community issues will trump national extremism this fall.”
