Indiana Republicans discard “local government” party values in favor of assault on city governments

INDIANAPOLIS – The Indiana Democratic Party, the organization that advocates for the future of Indiana and its families, today criticized the Indiana Republican Party for what will be remembered as a legislative session where GOP Members of the General Assembly tossed out their Party’s “local control, small government” morals in favor of bullying city governments, abusing Indiana’s public schools and teachers, and kneecapping the state’s low-income families. And as a cherry on top, Republicans still find themselves in a bitter civil war between Governor Eric Holcomb and the unruly and unchecked GOP supermajority. 

“What Hoosiers are witnessing this session is a fundamental breach of trust from voters and families who want their elected leaders to solve today’s major problems. Instead, voters are seeing an Indiana Republican Party who cares more about fulfilling a partisan checklist than leading Indiana and all of its families into a better future,” said John Zody, Chairman of the Indiana Democratic Party. “Indiana’s Republican Party has lost its morals, and their actions will continue to drive Hoosiers and others away from the state unless we bring some accountability and common-sense ideas back to our political discourse.”
