INDIANAPOLIS – John Zody, Chairman of the Indiana Democratic Party, released the following statement after Senate Democrats announced legislation aimed at protecting all Hoosiers from hate crimes, including the LGBT community.
“Securing protections from hate crimes for all Hoosiers has been long overdue in Indiana, and it’s encouraging that Senate Democrats continue our party’s fight on this important issue. Time and again Republicans have jeopardized our state’s economy and reputation by passing laws like RFRA. Unfortunately for Eric Holcomb, he is ‘proud’ of Mike Pence’s RFRA and is ‘of one mind’ with the same out-of-touch policies that got us into this mess in the first place. Hoosiers need a clean break from this divisive ideological agenda. John Gregg is the right person for the job, and as governor he’ll work to end legal discrimination and sign a hate crimes bill into law protecting LGBT Hoosiers.”
