INDIANAPOLIS – Indiana Democratic Party Chairman John Zody issued the following statement in response to tonight’s WISH-TV Republican Senate primary debate:
“Tonight’s debate proved again that none of these deeply flawed candidates are fit to represent Hoosiers in the Senate. When not getting hit by the constant mud being flung from each other, Congressmen Rokita and Messer and Rep. Braun continued racing to the right, flip-flopping on any issue necessary to pander the hard-liners they need to win in May. All three candidates showed off their new positions on trade, pretended to care about the debt after supporting the deficit-busting McConnell tax plan, and tried to find new ways to hide their desire to cut Medicare and Social Security. With less than a month to go in this race, the primary’s not getting any less nasty, and it’s only getting more expensive. Meanwhile, Hoosier Democrats are more united than ever to fight for Joe Donnelly and keep his message of hard work and common sense in the Senate.”
