INDIANAPOLIS – IDP Chairman John Zody issued the following statement this afternoon after Congressman Rokita voted against a bill to fund the government through September 30:
“Congressman Rokita’s deficit concerns ring hollow after he voted just a few months ago for the McConnell tax plan that adds as much as $2.2 trillion to the national debt, to be paid for with cuts to Medicare and Social Security. He’s simply looking for political cover after voting to shut down the government and against a pay raise for our troops. Or, is Congressman Rokita simply upset that his giveaway to the tribal gaming lobby which has already netted him $160,000 in a pay-for-play scandal was stripped from the final bill?”
