Does Holcomb regret playing politics?
INDIANAPOLIS – Eric Holcomb proved that when given the choice, he’d put party over state after fighting to keep control of the Secretary of State’s office after Charlie White was convicted of voter fraud – a felony – and left office. In fact Holcomb, then chairman of the Indiana Republican Party, said since White was “fairly elected” Republicans had the right to keep this seat even though White was caught cheating.
This defense, though, was the kind of political agenda Eric Holcomb consistently used during his work in Indiana politics. Hoosiers shouldn’t forget that Holcomb in 2012 also defended Richard Mourdock after he condoned rape and sexual assault instances on women during a U.S. Senate debate.
“Eric Holcomb’s ability to put the interests of his party over the interests of Hoosiers proves that he is nothing but a party hack who will carry on the political agenda that has Hoosiers falling behind the rest of the nation,” said Drew Anderson, communications director. “Holcomb would rather fight partisan battles than address the growing wage gap, establish a statewide Pre-K program, and stop open discrimination against LGBT Hoosiers. We can do better than having Eric Holcomb as Indiana’s governor.”
Hoosiers are fed up with the out-of-touch ideology that Eric Holcomb, this administration, and Statehouse Republicans have used to govern the state over the last four years. But as history tells you, Holcomb would do nothing more than maintain the status quo as he’s someone who will time and again put party ahead of Hoosiers.

Holcomb Defended Charlie White, Saying He Was “Fairly Elected” Even Though He Was Accused Of Committing Voter Fraud. According to the Fort Wayne Journal Gazette, “The Indiana Recount Commission should not be allowed to invalidate the results of last year’s secretary of state election, according to the state’s GOP chairman. Indiana Republican Party Chairman Eric Holcomb on Wednesday said Hoosier voters fairly elected Charlie White to office last fall. ‘He won the election,’ said Holcomb, who was in Fort Wayne addressing the Downtown GOP Club. ‘The votes counted. We’ll move on from there.’ White is accused of committing voter fraud by intentionally voting in a precinct where he did not live in last May’s primary. Holcomb on Wednesdaysaid state Republicans felt there was a better way for White to handle the interim than staying in office under indictment, but he said he is willing to let the legal process run its course.” [Fort Wayne Journal Gazette, 4/14/11]
February 2012: Indiana Court Found Charlie White Guilty Of Six Felony Charges For Voter Fraud. The Associated Press reported, “The top elections official in Indiana was convicted of multiple charges in a voter fraud case on Saturday, bringing uncertainty to one of the state’s most powerful offices. A Hamilton County jury found Charlie White, the Indiana secretary of state, guilty of six of seven felony charges: two counts of perjury and one each of false registration, voting in another precinct, submitting a false ballot and theft. He was acquitted of one fraud charge.” [Associated Press, 2/4/12]
· White Had Resisted Calls To Resign, But State Law Prohibited Anyone Convicted Of A Felony From Remaining In Office. The Associated Press reported, “It was not immediately clear what would happen in the state office. Mr. White has resisted calls to resign by Democrats and fellow Republicans, including Gov.
