Friendly reminder: Not a single Indiana Republican in Congress supported The Jobs Act – despite campaigning on infrastructure issues
INDIANAPOLIS – The Indiana Democratic Party, the organization that advocates for the future of Indiana and its families, today celebrated the transformational investments The Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act (The Jobs Act) is bringing to the Hoosier State. The Department of Transportation announced yesterday about $6.6 million will be used to upgrade public transportation systems in Indianapolis and South Bend. Thanks to President Joe Biden and Indiana Democrats, new bus shelters, new boarding areas, and new energy-efficient buses will be purchased – creating a brighter future for Hoosiers who use public transportation in their daily lives.
Despite campaigning on issues like infrastructure, Congressional Republicans voted “NO” on these once-in-a-generation investments. In fact, many Republicans are trying to have it both ways following their “NO”. U.S. Senator Todd Young instructed his staff last December to take credit for The Jobs Act’s investments to the Indianapolis Airport Authority – despite his flip-flop on the law. And, Congressman Larry Bucshon claimed he wanted to protect Indiana’s “Crossroads of America” reputation even though he voted against The Jobs Act’s funding to repair roads and bridges across the state.
The Indiana Republican Party will try to take credit for the brighter economic future The Jobs Act is delivering for Hoosier families. This very fact is why Indiana Democrats have crisscrossed the state correcting this record with Hoosiers in communities large and small. Democrats are responsible for well-paid jobs and a revitalized infrastructure system, and the State Party will campaign on these kitchen-table issues throughout 2022.

Indiana was one of 39 states to receive grants from the U.S. Department of Transportation on Monday aimed toward improving bus systems.
IndyGo is receiving $2.3 million to “build new passenger shelters and bus boarding areas for bus rapid transit and local bus services.”
The South Bend Public Transportation Corporation (Transpo) is getting $4.3 million that will go toward buying new compressed natural gas buses to replace older diesel buses.
A total of $409.3 million was awarded to 70 programs across the county.
