Moody’s Analytics: “As named, the Inflation Reduction Act will lean against inflation over the next decade. It also adds a bit to growth. And it is more than paid for with tax hikes on large corporations and the well-to-do.”
ICYMI: Republicans Say Biden’s Plan Taxes the Middle Class. That’s False.
INDIANAPOLIS – The Indiana Democratic Party, the organization that advocates for the future of Indiana and its families, today criticized U.S. Senator Todd Young for voting “NO” on a slew of kitchen-table issues Hoosiers want solved for their families. With the vote on the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA), Young opposed lowering prescription drug costs (like capping insulin prices), reducing health insurance costs by $800, creating union jobs, and combating climate change. Further, Todd Young also said “NO” to easing the burdens global inflation has brought Hoosier families – despite campaigning on this issue for months.
The best part about the IRA: no person or family making under $400,000 would see their taxes increase.
“It’s simple: Democrats are combating inflation, lowering drug and insurance costs, fighting climate change, and making corporations pay their fair share. The United States and Indiana have a better future ahead, because Democrats – not Todd Young or Republicans – delivered when it mattered most,” said Mike Schmuhl, Chairman of the Indiana Democratic Party. “Voters will hear this fall about how Republicans like Todd Young want to make all forms of abortion against the law while Democrats are solving the kitchen-table issues at the top of their minds. Democrats are the adults in the room, and we’re ready to share this record with Hoosiers across Indiana.”
Todd Young continues to show voters he cares more about filling the Indiana GOP’s extremist agenda – like making abortion against the law – than creating a better future for Hoosier families.
In contrast, Indiana Democrats have joined the Biden Administration in producing one of the most successful legislative eras in modern history. Thanks to leaders like André Carson and Frank Mrvan have passed the American Rescue Plan, the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act, CHIPS and Science Act, and the PACT Act – life-saving health care for veterans who served our nation. They’ve also created an economy with the lowest unemployment rate in recent memory.
The Inflation Reduction Act will only add to the Democrats’ record of creating union jobs and protecting Hoosier workers, securing once-in-a-generation investments in infrastructure systems like broadband, providing American veterans with life-saving health care, and holding companies accountable for price gouging our gas prices and prescription drug costs.
Indiana Democrats are delivering a better future for Hoosiers across Indiana while Todd Young and the Indiana Republican Party only cares about fulfilling their extremist agenda that’s adding burdens to our families.
