Young describes new face of GOP as “nutty”, even though she’s proxy of the INGOP’s primary voting base

INGOP Members of Congress vote their support for a congresswoman who called for the assassination of Speaker Nancy Pelosi and claimed Parkland and Las Vegas mass shootings were a hoax

INDIANAPOLIS – The Indiana Democratic Party, the organization that advocates for the future of Indiana and its families, today condemned the Indiana Republican Party’s congressional delegation for publicly voting support for a political ideology that is un-American, not rooted in truth, and is the same rhetoric that led to January 6’s domestic terrorist attack against the United States. Today’s vote forever branded QAnon, the fringe conspiracy theory organization, to the Indiana Republican Party — making them the INQOP. 

“Just like their votes to overturn the 2020 presidential election, the Indiana Republican Party publicly declared their morals no longer rest in science, truth, and the American values we’ve cherished and have been taught our whole lives,” said Drew Anderson, spokesman for the Indiana Democratic Party. “The INQOP’s rhetorical grandstanding is un-American and does nothing to help struggling families during COVID-19 pandemic. Their political greed completely dismantles voters’ trust.”

This is not good news for U.S. Senator Todd Young, who described the new face of the Republican Party, QAnon Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene, as “nutty”. Young’s frequent criticism of the INQOP’s primary base will spell problems for him and other establishment Republicans who repeatedly refused to hold their voters accountable for years. WHY IT MATTERS: Todd Young and Governor Eric Holcomb are doing their best to keep a fractured Indiana Republican Party together during their Party’s civil war. However, the approach to have it both ways fails, because their complicity during the Trump years emboldened their base so much that they risk exile should they hold their voters accountable.
