INDIANAPOLIS – The Indiana Democratic Party, the organization that advocates for the future of Indiana and its families, today called out two-faced Todd Young for campaigning on immigration after failing to do a thing about it during his 12 years in Congress. In a series of campaign materials, Young claimed the nation’s “border crisis is out of control” and it was his “mission” to make the country “safer and stronger”.
The problem: Young has campaigned on immigration since 2010 and hasn’t done a thing about it. He even described the border as a “national security issue” during his 2016 U.S. Senate campaign.
In fact, Todd Young went to Washington and put immigration on the backburner. In fact, Young had the opportunity to lobby for a comprehensive immigration reform package in 2013, but stayed silent.
The U.S. Senate passed a bipartisan bill in 2013 which would have “beefed up” security along the border, required a mandatory workplace verification system for employers, installed a visa program for low-skilled workers, and established a pathway to citizenship for undocumented immigrants. These are issues the Republican Senator has campaigned on since 2010.
Todd Young is disingenuous when it comes to immigration. If he truly cared about this issue, he would have helped to solve it already in Washington. Instead, he’s using immigration as an election-year stunt with voters. Todd Young is the two-faced politician Hoosiers simply do not trust.

The vote was 68-32. Fourteen Republicans crossed the aisle to vote with all Democrats in favor. Thursday’s vote now puts the onus of immigration reform on the Republican-led House, where leaders have been resistant to the Senate legislation.” […]
