INDIANAPOLIS – The Indiana Democratic Party, the organization that advocates for the future of Indiana and its families, today highlighted how two-faced Todd Young is once again saying one thing in Indiana but doing another in Washington. This time, the former marine referred to the United States of America as a “republic” during a campaign event in Hamilton County – not a “democracy”. Todd Young only describes the nation as a democracy when he’s in Washington – like he did in December 2021.
Key point: Todd Young is dog whistling to the Indiana GOP’s extremist base because only about 80% of Republicans actually support his reelection. That’s why Young is now trying to save face with the same voters he once said had “anger and resentment” in 2021.
Media shouldn’t forget: Todd Young is hiding his real opinion of Republican voters. In fact, Young’s apathy for the Indiana GOP’s core supporters is yet another sign of fractures within the party — from Governor Eric Holcomb’s struggles with the supermajorities to the ousting of incumbent Secretary of State Holli Sullivan from the ballot by extremist Diego Morales.
What does Todd Young believe? Is the United States a “democracy” or a “republic”? Does he still believe Trump voters have “anger and resentment”?
It’s time for Todd Young to stop being the two-faced politician voters loathe and start being honest about what he stands for during this election.
