ICYMI: Todd Young flip flops on support for The Jobs Act, bipartisan infrastructure investment for America’s future
INDIANAPOLIS – The Indiana Democratic Party, the organization that advocates for the future of Indiana and its families, today questioned whether U.S Senator Todd Young would flip flop his endorsement of the bipartisan deal on gun safety – just as he did on The Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act (The Jobs Act). Young announced his “support” for the legislation yesterday, which would strengthen background checks for Americans under 21 and increase protections for domestic violence victims (known as the boyfriend loophole). But until the vote happens, Hoosiers shouldn’t hold their breath – because election-year partisanship comes first for this Senator.
Will Todd Young flip flop on his support for the Senate’s bipartisan gun safety deal – just like he did with his support for The Jobs Act?
Should Todd Young reverse his support for this gun safety legislation, he would literally put the National Rifle Association’s (NRA) $3 million in campaign dollars ahead of our children, domestic violence victims, and communities across the state. He would also be just like the rest of his party. Just last week, Indiana Republicans in the state’s Congressional delegation voted “NO” on the Protecting Our Kids Act. And back home in Indiana, Statehouse Republicans ignored opposition from voters and warnings from state law enforcement by passing permitless carry last session.
It’s hard to take Young’s words seriously because like the rest of The Indiana GOP, he has no plans for Indiana’s future – just political performance and partisanship.
