INDIANAPOLIS – Indiana Democratic Party Chairman John Zody released the following statement after Senate Republicans watered down a modest proposal to expand early childhood education options.
“Hoosier children are only four once. Statehouse Republicans are needlessly putting the future of an entire generation of Hoosier children at risk by dragging their feet on Pre-K. Now Republicans are cutting by 70 percent what was already a criminally modest proposal. We’ve seen this before. Former Governor Mike Pence needlessly injected politics into preschool by denying $80 million in federal funding to expand options. Governor Holcomb can’t be silent. 80,000 Hoosier 4-year-olds are counting on him.”
