INDIANAPOLIS – Indiana Democratic Party Chairman John Zody issued the following statement after key lawmakers met to discuss troubling reports of inaction concerning the embattled Department of Child Services.
“Today’s meeting did nothing to ease Hoosiers’ dwindling trust in Statehouse Republicans’ desire or ability to do the right thing at the Department of Child Services, an agency they’ve overseen for 14 years. Talk is cheap. Five times we’ve heard, ‘this time it’ll be different’ and five times, reforms never materialized. More bureaucracy, more resolutions, more centralization and more red tape isn’t a plan, it’s just another political delay tactic from Statehouse Republicans. After nearly a decade in complete control of the Statehouse, Indiana Republicans look more concerned with maneuvering to maintain political power than protecting vulnerable children.”
