INDIANAPOLIS – Indiana Democratic Party Chairman John Zody issued the following statement after State Representative Linda Lawson requested a public Ethics Committee ruling concerning Speaker Brian Bosma’s alleged intimidation.
“Accountability has to be more than an empty talking point for Indiana Republicans. No matter how powerful or well-connected, no one is above the law and no one gets a pass. Taxpayers deserve transparency. A thorough and transparent Ethics Committee investigation into Speaker Bosma’s conduct is how lawmakers achieve that promise. Rep. Lawson is absolutely right to ask for an Ethics Committee ruling. She’s right, too, that lawmakers should be held to the highest standard. Governor Holcomb wanted a report and now a request has been made for one. I expect him to back the call for an Ethics Committee ruling immediately. Speaker Bosma himself said ‘our greatest concern’ must be the confidence of the public in their elected officials. I agree. That’s why this investigation is needed.”
