INDIANAPOLIS – Indiana Democratic Party Chairman John Zody issued the following statement concerning President Donald Trump’s announced ban of transgender individuals serving in the United States military.

“Today, President Trump’s narrow-minded announcement reminds us why we fight for equality under the law for all Hoosiers. It is also clear that Mike Pence’s rigid ideology followed him to Washington. Our nation’s military readiness depends on making sure that our best and brightest can serve, no matter how they identify. The bravery, sacrifice and duty patriotic, transgender Hoosiers demonstrate in defense of our nation should be celebrated by our President, not derided.”
