Who we are
Our website address is: https://indems.org.
Comments/Email
When visitors leave comments on the site we collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.
An anonymized string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available here: https://automattic.com/privacy/. After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment.
When you use a form on the website to sign up and opt-in for party updates through email or text messaging, we collect the information you provided for our email and SMS programs.
How We Protect and Use Your Information
Our website has a number of security measures in place to protect against the loss, misuse or alteration of the information under our control. Computer systems have restricted access limited only to those persons and organizations necessary to its proper functioning. Highly sensitive data including credit card information is additionally secured through the use of encryption, such as the Secure Socket Layer (SSL) protocol.
We will use your e-mail address to provide you news and information about our efforts. We may also use location information to send you e-mail messages about upcoming events or activities in your area.
We may use the information that you provide online to contact you for other purposes or to solicit contributions. When you register or sign up online, we may share your contact information with other organizations that share similar goals and objectives, and they may contact or solicit you.
Without conceding any particular legal characterization of the Party’s role under Indiana Code Article 24-15, the Indiana Democratic Party may delete any non-public information and enriched data from databases and records it controls as requested by individuals.
The Indiana Democratic Party will retain a record of the deletion request and the public voter file, which it also considers the minimum data necessary to ensure non-public information and enriched data remains deleted from its records. Please note: the Act does not require the Indiana Democratic Party to direct the data practices of separate, independent controllers; deletion requests should be submitted to those entities directly.
When You Contribute Money Online
We are often required to disclose information regarding your contributions to comply with campaign finance laws. For example, federal law requires us to collect and disclose the name, mailing address, occupation and name of employer of individuals whose contributions aggregate in excess of $200 in an election cycle.
Petitions and Other Forms
We treat your name, city, state, and any comments as public information. We may, for example, disclose this information to public officials, the press, and/or the general public. In accordance with our general policy, we may also use the information that you provide to contact you for other purposes or to solicit contributions. We may share your email address and other contact information with other organizations that share similar goals and objectives, and they may contact or solicit you.
Cookies/Information Collected Automatically
If you leave a comment or fill out a form on our site you may opt-in to saving your name, email address and website in cookies. These are for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. These cookies will last for one year.
In partnership with third parties, we use various technologies to learn how visitors are using our websites, improve our websites, and customize your experience. This may include sending cookies (small data files) to your computer or mobile device. We may also collect information using “web beacons” or “tracking pixels” — electronic images that may be used in our websites or emails that deliver cookies, count visits, understand campaign effectiveness and determine whether an email has been opened and acted upon. We also use reference codes to track which communication a contribution originated from. These technologies are used to improve our email broadcasting program as well as our advertising and promotion programs. You can opt-out of these technologies for advertising by visiting AboutAds.info/choices. See below for information about opting-out from email communications.
Embedded content from other websites
Articles on this site may include a limited amount of embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website.
These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracking your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged in to that website.
How long we retain your data
If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.
For users that register on our website (if any), we also store the personal information they provide in their user profile. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). Website administrators can also see and edit that information.
If you would like to unsubscribe from any of our Party emails, please click the unsubscribe link at the bottom of the email.
Information on Children
Because we care about the safety and privacy of children online, we comply with the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act of 1998 (COPPA). COPPA and its accompanying FTC regulations establish United States federal law that protects the privacy of children using the Internet. We do not knowingly contact or collect personal information from children under 13. Our site is not intended to solicit information of any kind from children under 13, and we have designed our sites to block our knowing acceptance of information from children under 13 whenever age-related information is requested.
Parents with questions may contact us directly.
